I bought some OZ Polaris {17 x 8} off of eBay that I am picking up on Sunday.
I should also be getting my new coilovers today.
What size tires should I be using? 205 or 215/40/17? I've heard that I might need some spacers in the rear to clear the coilovers. What size should I be looking for and where is a good place to pick them up?
Sorry about the 20 questions...

Re: Picking up new OZ's on Sunday! (I am Jack's VR6)

gti or jetta?
if you're a 2.0 jetta (like me) you may need to do some massaging because i've heard anything larger than a 7" wide wheel will rub, even with 205's...if you're a vr6 i think you'll be ok...sorry i couldn't be of more assistance...

stretch the 205's. 17x8 is a wide and will rub a little.. 215's will mos def rub.
unless you wanna start fuxin' with your fenders and shiet.

Do they just rub in the rear? I'm not planning on dropping my car too much. I just want to get it down so the control arms are parallel with the ground {M this 1 said this was a good setup}. I'm thinking I might need some spacers back there anyway so why not go for the tires that fit...
Yeah, no?

quote:

use the proper tire size, either 215/40s or 215/30s, the 30s would rub less

With 30s I would have 4 bent rims. I think I'll go with some spacers and the 215/40/17.
What size of wheel spacers should I get for the rear? 5mm? 8mm?

My GL has 16 X 7.5 rims with 215/45/16 on them and I do not have rubbing issues. My car is lowered too with the back flush with the fender.

I had 205/40/17's on the front and replaced them with 215's. No rubbing and I like them better ..... 205's give a really harsh ride.

I have 205/4516s on my 16X7.5 F1 cups, think 215s would work better on that? my friend said if I did put 215s on it then I'd have to drop it to a 215/40...dunno if too many people make 215/40 in 16s
