I found that awesome link that gives you awesome instructions on the N75J valve along with directions to the N249 bypass. The N75 directions had pictures unlike the directions to the N249 which I had some trouble with finding what I needed to bypass. If anyone could post a pic that would be most appreciated. Thanks.

its under the black bracket circled, the N112 is on the left and the N249 is next to it on the right

depends on how complicated you want to make the bypass. You can plug the hose now going to the DV and just run a new vacuum hose from the mani to the DV.
-or-
you can remove the entire N249, hoses, and reservoir. It is underneath the panel that bolts to the front of the intake manifold and there are not lots of pics floating around because it is kinda a beotch to mess with and while your doing it the last thing you are concerned about is taking pictures of it. I have some diagrams in my sig under projects.

not that I could attribute to bypassing. I eneded up cleaning up a bunch of the PCV/vacuum system and removing most of it and any fluttering I had went away.

requires a fair amount of work. I have also removed #18 and #27 on the diagram.

that does seem like a good amount of work... i guess im looking for the easier solution, ill try tapping that line from the intake manfold... you say its under the manifold and not the one going into the FPR, the other line right?

You can use any vacuum line to bypass the N249. I have tapped into the FPR hose to run DVs but prefer to keep that line on its own as a failure there can prevent other fairly severe problems.

Awesome diagram. Didn't realize that the one side of the PCV valve comes off the outlet of the catch can.

In my experience even with a catch can I was still getting some oil in the pipes. Now I have both breathers going to the catch can and a filter on the can http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

i know it might be tight in there, but can anyone show me a picture, on an engine of which line i am suppose to tap for the DV to bypass the n249. I have done the one inbetween the FPR and the mani. But there is another one off the mani i should be using right?

you can see where i put the bolt in the tube, i couldnt fing anything at the time so i just put tape around it and screwed it in. the other end going to the DV goes to the T between the FPR and manifold http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

oh by the way have fun getting the clamp of its a PITA

wow, finally my beetle had an advantage here, my n249 is on a little bracket right on top of the valve cover (which is now gone) .... but it was a breeze when I did it a while back http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif
