I have a pinstripe on my car that I would really like to remove, but I was wondering if you will be able to tell that there was a pinstrip (ie cause of the paint fading). I have a '97 Black Jetta, I took the rear badges off, and you really dont see where the badges used to be. Also, to remove the pinstripe, should I use a hair dryer? Thanks in Advance.

Re: Pinstripe Removal???? (TreknJetta)

i used a thing that attaches to a drill. basically looks and feels like a big spinning eraser. I did the vw pickup with it and after waxing you could barely see the line. and thats a 21 yr old paint job

Re: Pinstripe Removal???? (TreknJetta)

i added a silver glitter pinstripe right after i bought the car, racing stripe style up and over the car. this was a while back, and needless to say i got sick of it. it basically peeled off. since it hasn't been waxed in a while, you can see the sun fading around it, but keep in mine this was also on TOP of the car. the ones on the side shoudn't be as bad. i would recommend not just peeling it off like i did (while on break at work i may add haha) but it worked for me. good luck

Re: Pinstripe Removal???? (ninetyseven)

I used a hair dryer, fingernails, and 3M adhesive remover from Wal-Mart and it took 30 minutes to do both sides of my car. The hair dryer is really important. I was pulling off feet of pinstriping at a time. Make sure you wax when you are finished using the adhesive remover. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif
