Just go with UNI.. MUCH easier than standalone.MUCH!! nless you enjoy that kinda stuff..
What is your engine code? AWD = just rods. I believe anything else you have to get pistons also.
Rods are Rods as far as I know. Carillo = strong but heavy(they'll bend en back for you if you mess em up). lots of the BT guys use pauter, I believe. there are just too many choices.

Re: Pistons and Rods (VW2.SloWA3)

you deff wanna replace your rods soon after. jeff ([email protected]) runs this set-up, with outstanding results. ran a stock bottom end for a while, but built the bottom end recently. that is a very large turbo, and it spools pretty damn quick. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

i would just buy pauter rods and wiseco pistons, the hardest part is file fitting the piston rings other than that the motor comes apart easy and goes back together like butta

i second that...
just stay away from machining the block... wiseco offers a drop in piston that can be purchased here
Wiseco Drop-in 81mm piston kit with wrist pins, wire clips, and rings....
then the pauter rods can be purchased all over...
pag, alamo, http://www.porttuning.com , etc etc...
