Just a heads up for those who are interested in a protective plastic film kits for your R32. I know there was some talk about this in the past. There is a company called Clear Guard and they currently have a fully developed kit for the R32. Kits are sold separately or together and are available for the hood, front & rear bumper and mirrors and headlights too. I was dealing with John and he was a huge help in getting me what I wanted. I haven't found anyone else who offers a pre-cut kit that comes complete. This kit is much cheaper than having someone fabricate a kit from scratch. I should be getting my kit in a couple weeks and will post once it is put on. The kit is not listed on their website yet but you can call John and ask for the specific kit. http://www.clear-guard.com http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

Re: Plastic Film Paint Protection Kits... (musicgreg)

I just had this applied by Detailing Dynamics in Mineola (long island), NY. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif It's not cheap paying to get it installed but w/no garage and freezing temps, I didn't really have a choice. I watched them do it and the bumper would be REALLY hard to do yourself...they had 4 guys stretching/spraying/applying it at one point. Final result is awesome. I used to hate finding chips everytime I washed my car...no more of that! They used the 3M stuff and I had them do the hood/fenders/bumper/rockers (insides too..right behind the wheels), and the bottom sides of the rear bumper. Came to about $700 installed (and it took a good 5 hours) Not cheap, but I plan on keeping this car for a looooong time.

Re: Plastic Film Paint Protection Kits... (FLY-GTI1)

did mine myself at home over the weekend..
I bought everything from x-pel except for the r32 bumper. the clear gaurd company sells pieces for the hood and fenders and mirrors for more than the xpel, so i saved some loot there.
It was no easy task but with a little patience it came out good, i should be getting the bumper piece today and install that tomorrow or over the weekend.. it's a must have..

Re: Plastic Film Paint Protection Kits... (Endemic)

Endemic,
Can you tell me a little more about this plastic protector......
I am definately interested, however I have a few questions for you:
1) Is this a permanent thing (will it ever come off?)
2) Can you see the parting line where it ends, or will you see it in the future after some debris has collected at the interface?
3) What kind of protection will it give you (i.e. what if a large rock hits and goes thru it.......)
4) What kind of warrantee or guarantee does it come with?
If you could give me a bit more insight it would be deeply appreciated.
Thanks a bunch!!

That's what I had in mind for my car. Did x-pel provide you with the bumper film or did you get that elsewhere?

Here are the Clear Guard R32 Paint Protection Kits:
Hood, Fender & Mirror Kit
Bumper (with washers)
Bumper (without washers)
Top of Rear Bumper
Headlights
I'd post the links for the designs, but I can't figure how to do it!
