Please help! regarding those who bought shift knob/boots with chrome ring at the bottom.

i bout a 25y shift boot and shifter. its an aluminum ring though, not chrome. in my case, it is attached to the boot, but snaps off easily if your careful. i did this because i intend to replace the leather that comes with that shifter with my original leather.

Here is a pic of my sport edition shift knob/boot. You can't tell from this pic, but there is also a chrome ring between the knob and the top of the boot.
