please help with setup of euro fuel injection

hi all, i've just rec'd my new euro fuel distributor and pressure regulator. i've installed the pressure regulator which was a basic swap in, swap out. no problems, except my lopping cold idle has disappeared. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif
i haven't installed the distributor yet, as i want to know exactly how to adjust it since its brand new and has never been used. i know how to enrich or lean the mixture, but i need to know what else i'll have to do. the engine is the 1.8 JH gti motor.

take it to someone with a emissions machine thing to tune it, theres no O2 sensor now so you could run it too lean and not know it, its also easier that way.
Re: please help with setup of euro fuel injection (Steve H)

Probably the easiest way is with a O2 sensor if you haven't removed yours yet, you can hook a digital voltmeter or air-fuel meter to it, the voltage jumps around a bit, adjust the warm idle mixture so that you get an average reading of about .55-.60 volts, the higher the voltage the richer the mixture. Then take a test drive, drive it hard!, check the voltage under heavy, high rpm load, to make sure you're not leaning out too much under load. The O2 sensors aren't as accurate as a proper CO meter but it goes with you so, you can monitor it continuously until you're set-up properly. At least you'll always know you're not running dangerously lean or ridiculously rich.
Re: please help with setup of euro fuel injection (ABA Scirocco)

thanx for the info guyz. btw, someone mentioned an A/F meter, what is the deal with that? is there a way to hook one up to the fuel injection and install an A/F gauge in the dash? so, ABA, how is the setup adjusted?
Re: please help with setup of euro fuel injection (Steve H)

An A/F meter is just a fancy voltmeter 0-1 volt, the display is usually 10 leds. I made my own basic on instructions found at www.scirocco.org. I installed it in place of my ash tray, you need to run a single wire from the O2 sensor to the gauge as well as a power and a ground wire. I'm not familiar with the euro system but I assume you adjust it the same way you would a CIS basic system with a long 3mm allen key.

Steve,
I've got an A/F meter I took out of the race car. It hooked to the O2 sensor. Seems that it doesn't read right when using Sunoco Purple race gas

Hood and fender are still waiting! Looks like the blue car might be gone.
