Why not get the Carfax for free from the dealer selling the car. Not sure what the VW dealer could provide you seeing you do not own it, but it might be worth a try. They will have a dealer's history of what was done to the car and seeing it's a '09 I would want to find out.

listen, for a 2009 car accident history is not reliable. I mean, anything until maybe 10-year old mark will be reported, but once the car gets old... nah.
there is a high chance it was in a recent collision and was sold because it was too expensive to repair. No claim was done due to lack of insurance. Some cheap body shop patched it up, and voila.
