I have been offered to take an '88 Golf off of somebody because it won't start for him.. he said it's turning over but not getting any spark.. checked the distributor and no spark there either.. I was just wondering.. could this be an easy fix.. or does it sound like more of a headache..

if you've got some time and knowledge, and $50 to possibly lose
it's definately worth a shot!

get it, if it's 50 bucks...you can sell the engine off for 100 and make 50, lol.
but seriously it doesn't sound too hard to fix if the mechanicals are fine.

check the timing belt.....if it isn't that, get back to us! this could be a really good reason why you aren't getting spark but it's turning over!
Good Luck

no spark at the dizzy doesn't sound like timing to me. Try checking the coil, then the coil wire, then come back to the hall sender and rotor. heck, could just be loose wires on the coil.

Edit: oh yeah, and WTF are you thinking? Of course it's worth 50 bucks if it's otherwise in decent shape!
Get it already! http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif
