how long did it take to get them coated? I am doing this here very soon, but am not sure on the entire process. between powder coated or painted, or chemically coated, what's bes? Also i am doing black, so a flatt black or a glossy black? |
OK, here is how it goes:
The color that I got was satin black.
The process that the wheels went through are as follows:
1) Sandblast all of the OEM clearcoat
2) Powdercoat all 4 wheels and put them into the oven.
3) Pull them out and let them cool down to room temp.
4) Powercoat them again and put them into the oven.
5) Pull them out and let them cool down to room temp.
That was the whole process the wheels went through. Plus, the wheels were powdercoated all the way around inside and out. There was not one spot on the wheel that wasn't powdercoated.
The best thing about powdercoating is that it is 20 times stronger than paint and brake dust literally washes off with soap and water. I went for about 2 weeks without washing my car. When I finally got to washing it the wheels were dirty as all hell. I just sprayed them down, dipped my sponge into clean soapy water and washed them. Rinsed them and they were like brand new.
