Basically, '90 A2 3 door, 2.9ABV, 178BHP @ wheels, 3.94, Quaife, 6speed, intake, 2 1/4" side exit exhaust (

), no rear seats, 215/40/16 street tyres, or possibly 215/35/16's if I can find some.
Previous best with stock tranny and everything else as above 14.74 @ 94ish(I think)
I'm hoping to get into the 13's, am I dreaming? If so whould 268's get me there?

The car definately has potential for low 14's but it really depends on how you drive it. The launch is the key.

Well after reading the thread about launching it turns out i've been lauching at too high revs all along. I smoke 'em too much in 1st off the line instead of rolling.
I was hoping the Quaife would help with starts? or even starting off in 2nd?
The lights always presure me into lauching too harshly and that always means wheelspin, lot's of it.
What it is, I've challenged someone this year. He has a SC A2 2.9 and has just ran a 14.23. I'm determined to beat him running a stock motor.

Haha, just kidding, the quaife will help ALOT with your launching, get some good tires, BF or Nitto Drag radials, and 13's are definately possible. A chip and some cam definately can hurt.

I wish! It'll only do 115 in 5th!
Using slicks is cheating in my book. I wanna run it in the same spec/trim as I do on the street to get a 'real world' time.

Slicks definately is not cheating. But, if you want to run the same as you do on the street, use drag radials, like the BF's or Nittos, they are street legal, i run them on the street full time. Just be gentle, dont do burnouts with them on the street, it wears them down REALLY fast. Good luck

with traction 13's no problem. you should see mid-low 13's if you drive it right.

I'm really hoping to get into the 13's.
A whole second off my times just from a tranny, that'd be cool. It'd also be the quickest 'stock' VR6 in the country!

13's should be attainable even if your driving like a sissy

a stock a2 vr6 should be mid 14's with a good driver
