if i could keep from snapping axles in my 01 nb 1.8t i'd be in good shape. i had my chip tuning and a whole bunch of other stuff done all at once, so i decided to get some fresh axles (not rem.) put into my bug when i had my clutch and flywheel done, i had the car about a month and i snapped an axle, no biggee i just thought it was a fluke, the shop that did the work is a reputable shop, too. so they fixed it for free put 2 brand new axles in it for me, i picked the car up 3 days ago and tonight leaving work..same scenerio i got to pull out from work and bam!! theres that familiar breaking sound, another axle!!! does anybody know of any super strong axles out on the market that will not break??? read my sig for my mods, my car is not stock by a long shot but it is not exactly a race car, either. thanx in advance

Re: presenting...the axle snapper!!! (o2bad455)

ok my car is running 225/45/17 kumho ecsta asx i didn't even move a foot out of my parking space. i was not trying to peel out or anything, however, i was going to leave my work in a hurry (black friday @ circuit city...been there since 4am). they are brand new not remanufactured FULL axles not just new cv's. they broke on the inner cv joint right before the splines that go into the trans, always on the driver side..wheels were pointed straight......the funny thing is after i got it in the garage on a jack and looked at it the part that broke was like an inch away from each other, almost like the axle is too short and the stress on the axle is so fragile that it'll break the first chance it gets????
