I paid $23,100 for my 2001 Jetta GLX, its a 2001, bought it last January. Good luck with ur purchase. Take ur time and bicker with VW, I spent about a month negotiating....and it paid off.

Sticker price on a GTI is the usual. I went to 3 different dealers & they all laughed at me when i suggested the invoice price.
I did get 5.9% financing through VW credit on it though.
Total price on 1.8t gti with leather & everything: $22,000
One nice perk is that mine was one of the first to come with an in dash CD player standard.
Good luck on your purchase bro! I might hurry it up....most places are running out of stock in my neighborhood.

go to edmunds.com.... they will tell you exactly what you should pay for the car. they call it TMV (True Market Value). I used that when I bought my 2001 GTI last August and I payed $22,000 for a VR6. Good Luck!!

I just got my 2002 Jetta GLS 1.8T Saturday. My wife and I decided that we had to have the Reflex Silver with Manual Transmission, Black Leather, Monsoon, Sport Suspension and 17" wheels. Called dang near every VW dealer in Ohio, most in Indiana, and a few in SE Michigan and finally found just what we wanted in Cincinnati. Had to drive 3 hours and they weren't dealing on the price, but it was worth it. The car is awesome. The car rolled off the truck Friday night and wasn't even prepped when I got a hold of them. Before I got there they received 2 calls from buyers and one dealer looking to trade. At least 3 other dealers I spoke with laughed when I asked about the car with the colors and options above. Most said that is by far the hardest combination to come by. Some had automatics, but only 1 manual found in a 2 mile radius of here and we bought it. Did get 6.4 from VW credit, so that helped.
