Probably a dumb question but......

Will race gas add power on a 1 bar Up-chip (AWW)? Or does it only add power when programming is made for it? There's gotta be *some* kind of benefit.

Huh, good question, my guess would be that you cant use it unless you have the APR program, but I plan to get the UP chip next month and would like to know this answer also.

Nope, no benefit. Your car won't take advantage of the higher octane unless you program it to advance the timing. You need a race gas chip.

STRONGLY disagree. It depends on a lot of factors - 1st - is your timing being retarded due to heat/additives in the fuel? If you answered YES then guess what - higher octane fuel will make a difference! There are other situations in which higher octane fuel will help out - mostly because high octane fuel doesn't necessarily have all the junk that normal fuel has to have to meet standards (this last one is more or less speculation - all depends on HOW you get higher octane
)

I agree. A while back I dumped a can of toluene with a half tank of 94 and took it to the track. What I got was no performance increase whatsoever. And actually my traps seemed worse than ever before. I mean honestly, if you can't realize any benefits with higher octane WHILE BEATING THE SH*T OUT OF THE CAR AT THE DRAGSTRIP, there probably are no appreciable benefits.
But if you want to find out for yourself, shell out the 10 bucks for some toluene or 20 bucks for a few gallons of race gas and see how your car likes it. Every car is different....
