Looks like I've found a buyer for the ECU...
Someone's interested in buying the ECU. So it looks like I'll be recovering some of my loss, and the buyer will be getting a fair deal (he set the price) for the unit.
Thanks,
/Andy
original message:
So, the story is that several months ago I bought an extra ECU for my 99 Passat 1.8T Tiptonic through this forum, since I figured that was the safest way to chip (keep the original ECU stock, chip the one I bought). Unfortunately the ECU turned out to be defective — the oil pressure light comes on all the time. And the individual I bought it from said it was good when he shipped it to me, so I'm out a whole lot of bucks, unless...
Would a (probably) defective ECU be of use to anyone? I'd like to recover some of what I spent.
Note that the ECU has a socket now for the chip, and the original chip is on a card that's plugged into the socket. (The chip shop discovered the defect after chipping.)
