Problem after 16v swap...

721 Views 7 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  78 2.0 16V rocco
After I swaped my 1.8 16v with CIS-E in my rabbit It is like at about 6k or 6500 there is a rev limiter. I know the limiter should be at 7200. I've already swaped out the knock box, ignition module, and tried jumping the fuel pump relay and still does it. Any ideas?

Are you using an 8v computer?
Re: Problem after 16v swap... (MKII16v)

No all the 16v engine harness was swaped over.
Re: Problem after 16v swap... (DCIvwRadar)

so you are using a 16v fuel pump relay then right?
if you are using everything from the 16v (including fusebox with relay) then it might be simply mechanical.tell us details of the swap
Re: Problem after 16v swap... (buckolaci)

What the swap is is a 1.8 16v with only the engine harness swaped in. The fusebox is still the rabbit one. I'm gonna check the coil tonight. But everything else I can think of I have check (i.e. fuel pump realy(jumped it), plug wires, knock box, and ignition module). I just can't think of anyrthing else. Any help?

If youare using the Rabbit fusebox that means you are using a Rabbit 8v fuel pump relay. That's your problem!Even if you jump the fuel pump relay that won't get you over 6000.You have to figure out a way to use the 16v relay!
Re: Problem after 16v swap... (buckolaci)

No because if you jump the relay then you bypass the relay. And the limiter would be in the relay. Also it is not stopping at 6000. It is like a limiter of some kind and then it hits the real rev limiter at 7200. That is why I'm not sure what it is.

Could this be the same problem with my 2.0 16V in my rocco im using the stock fuse box and an 8V fuel pump? I was told the motor had a chip but my motor hits the revlimiter at 6500 rpm. any thoughts on this?
