umm, i'm from these parts and moved to ny for work, but back in town for family
to make a long story short, i wish i knew about this two days ago; i would of kept my old drain plug; i threw away the old one after 20k miles, but most likely, it's still good for reuse.

drain plug is pretty much moderate hand tighten pressure which I presume you or your friend did
that plug doesn't easily back itself out unless it was very loose
keep us posted how things turn out

If it's a busted oil pan, go for one of these.
