the trans is perfect in my 1997 passat but it will not go into tiptronic mode. when you move the handle over it doesn' change on the dash . nor does upshiftingor downshifting do anything. I hooked up my vag controller and looked at the trans. there was not any error codes in the trans and the computer couldnt tell me anything about the tiptronic

Check the magnets at the base of your shifter.
