Re: Problems with Sunroof. :( (singatle)

first of all STOP trying to use it
Otherwise you'll scratch up the top.
The little bracket on one side has likely broken. Check the CCA website, I believe they have a writup on what goes wrong.

There is a silver spring loaded metal piece to the rear of the sunroof. If you tilt it up you will see it. It has a part number stamped in the side...mine did anyay. The rod it sits on gets bent and this piece jams when trying to slide back. It is held on by a little e-clip. I took these off and my sunroof works perfect with those pieces sitting in my ashtray.

Funny those pieces are sitting in my ash tray to. Except they jammed with my roof open and it started to rain. I ended up have to nurse it back shut. Which led to som wonderful scratches . One I had it back into closed mode. I had a friend look at it when he went to open it for vent position, PANGGG! SNAP, POP!!. Sheared those little silver hangers right off and one of those runners. The roof opens and closes no problem now. But, when you vent it, that bottom interior panel just flaps up and down. I took it to a VW dealer and he said I was F*@K, (literally) and said it would run around $950. He said the whole thing needs to be replaced. Well needless to say when I am more daring and have more time I will see about fixing it my self. as for now I just don't vent.
