Okay, so by now we all know this DE GTi is a special car with 6 speed, Recaros, big rims and everything. But I was wondering if the DE GTi is gonna have a production number plate mounted on the console. Or maybe on the dash? I have to ask since it's gonna be a rarity with only 1000 produced for the US market. Perhaps the DE GTi could become a desirable collector car in the future http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif . So Jamie, would you please confirm this? Thanks in advance

I'd like to see a numbered plate in the cars too. That would be a nice touch. BMW did that with their original M3 Sport Evos. I doubt that the car will ever truly be collectable, but it should bring a premium over a regular 1.8T just by virtue of the improvements / enhancements it has. Let's just hope the 20th anniversary isn't even that much better -- then the D.E. cars would appear less desireable.

Jamie:
Would you be more inclined to buy the D.E. GTI or the 20th anniversary GTI? The more I hear about the 20th anniversary GTI, the more I think IT will be the real deal. The D.E. car almost seems like an afterthought way to make some money in the U.S. with leftover 25th Euro parts. They're planning the 20th anniversary car months in advance and making it "special" with nice # plates and all. The D.E. is being slapped together from regular GLS cars and parts from the 25th Euro bin. I think the D.E. will still be a great car, but do you think many of us will regret not waiting the extra 8 months or so for the 20th anniversary car?
What's your honest opinion?

If you want additional color choices, slighty more equipment from the 25th Anniversary GTi, and are willing to pay more for it, then wait for the 20th Anniversary GTI.
If I could wait to buy a car and was willing to pay more, then I would wait.
