Thanks for the feedback! :D

I live 100km away from my project, so I am not able to be there to often on my leave.
Anyways brought with me a piece to work on at home.

Quiz! Whats more crispy than Pringles and more fragile than a Bubble.
MK2 Headliner!
Thinking of using some wire and duck tape as armouring on the back-side. And Paper Mache on the front side.
Hope to get OEM-look fabric from a local shop. (Black)
Wish me luck!

Just got word back from the painter. The rest of the parts are done!
As you know, both front and rear bumbers had damage both on the smooth and the structured parts.
They have done a phenomenal job on restructuring the bumpers and made them look like new :D

To compare, the rearbumber before:

Went to the garage yesterday, but didn't get to do much. Wanted to install the trunk lid, rear bumber etc.. but did not find or only found rusty nuts/bolts, so I need to do some refurbishing first..
But at least now all the parts are in place, and I have started sorting out all wiring harness.

Brought me home my coilovers, who really needs a refubishment! Will start on them soon:)
At home, my headliner is finished with the ground work. Steel wire, ducktape, Tec7 glue and papermache.
Now its good and strong, ready for fabric. Hope to be able to find a OEM lookalike color.

Such a good thread!!

What are you using to bring those rubber boots back to life?

Thanks a lot! :D

I use White Spirit and a cloth to clean them up.
Then I use Owatrol Polytrol to keep them shiny.

Got a weekend with the Jetta Again :)
Quick wrap up.
  • Unboxed lot of parts!
  • Installed rear trunk lid
  • Installed brake-lines and steel braided hoses on the rear axle.
  • Installed anti-roll bar with poly bushings
  • installed brackets for-, and Alternator and Powersteering pump.
  • Painted and installed powersteering pump pulley.
  • Refurbished and partly installed pulley tensioner plus belt
  • Started to refurbish rear brakea caliper, but only got time for 1 layer of paint.

But mostly I walked around and looked at my car and the parts :p

Spring is around the corner, and weather was nice to do some outdoor refurbishing :)
A hurtful process to split oil cap and the shaft! But I won in the end!

Working on my rear bumper brackets.
Did a full refurbish on what I thought was front bumper brackets. Apperently they did not fit my OEM front bumper...
But, thet looked exactly the same as Jetta rear bumper ones... only shorter?

Anyways I borrowed original ones from a friend, now starting to lengthen them. Will try to weld later this week.
And of course, need to refurbish a set of front ones too :p
