Went from H&R cup kit to PSS9's on my 91' 8V, and I'm very very pleased with the coil overs. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif
Have them pretty setup high and full soft, and the daily drive 300% more comfortable, and it will run circles around the old setup in the turns. Now I see why everybody heralds the MK2's handling, rides on rails now.

they make from for that year? .. send a link over here
thakns

im not sure they actually "make" them for a mk2, but mk3's use the same stuff. i love my pss9's you can totally dial out the added weight of the vr(using the mk3 vr model).

Where is everybody setting there dampers at, and for what kind of driving?
Mine are full soft all around, figured I would leave em that way for about a month, get a feel for them. I would say the fronts could go a little stiffer, seems like it bounces back to front a little at speed.

Hey A2Tommy...how is your ride height?

from the looks of the spring perch, I'd say he's about an inch higher than my GTI, but mine is slammed right now for looks. That's the great part about coilovers, slam 'em for looks one day, raise 'em for handling the next

BTW, I'm running MkIII Bilstein PSS coilovers, not the PSS9's

anyone know if the spring rates are marked on the springs?
If so what are the rates on the tender and the main spring?

I really like those PSS9s Alec. Mike took me for a ride around the block after he installed them. Felt much better than the old Cup Kit Larry had in there. At least my kidneys didn't hurt afterward.

Agreed! They are a big step-up from OEM or standard aftermarket suspensions. I've got mine set at 5 all around. I might soften up the fronts by 1 tick.
Lets see some pics...

what are the spring rates on the the springs and the helper springs
what are the free heights on the springs (including the helpers)..
Id like to calculate the effective spring rates... (it doenst work the way you might think it works)

That's not the piston, that's the shock body, Bilsteins use an upside down shock design. H&Rs use Bilstein shocks.
