Re: Putting a newer VR6 (zanevr6)

well ive done some investigation into this myself and from what i hear, any one of the VR6's can be done...i was particularly interested in the new 24v VR6 which doesn't bolt up to the 02A tranny, but still would work given a hitch to the 6-speed....yummmm
conversion for the 24v is gonna be priccccy my friend, if you got cash (like 10 grand according to new german), go 24v, but if you don't, go 12v man or even 1.8t will be more inexpensive now that people have been swapping to it for awhile
have you guys seen this 24 valve contraption? it is just about the most beautiful thing ive seen in foreverness
. the only thing i even question is the composite plastic intake manifold that apparently is being strapped to the jetta/gti version. what is that about?

Re: Putting a newer VR6 (clubfootedmidget)

the 1.8T swap is a no go.. I heard it takes like 80 hours book time just to wire it up but rumor has it somebody is creating a set-up harness to do this..
I have a 2001 mark 4 jetta engine in mine...doest take poop.
i used the block and then rotated a few things and plugged a hole. and WHALA.
if i remember right you can use a VR6 up to a '98 then it skips till 2000 or 2001 and then you can go back to using the engine. I used the vr6 block off the jetta and then put my corrado top half and alternator and pretty much everything on top except for the block

Re: Putting a newer VR6 (SYKEZ3)

VR6 longblocks are same.
Manifold on Mk4 is a table, just use a VGi or a OBD II manifold.
MK4 has more casting holes for engine mounts, and thats it.
Newer 24V will bolt up,but also need "smaller" manifold.
Damn composite "table" manifold gotta go.

I agree with the HGP setup,but...Not every average Joe has 19k to burn on a turbo system. Some would rather "rig" to work.

I cannot rig things too much, they fly apart at my 140mph cruising speed.
