putting scoop on hood, best way?????

ok, whats the best way to stick on a hood scoop? the scoop is made of abs, we're thinking about doing a fiberglass type bonding to mould it on. any suggestions would be great. this is the first time we've tried to mould plastic and steel together. it really, really sucks. plus we are fighting bad weather.

If the scoop was fiberglass, then it would be easy. I'd pretty much say don't even try to mold ABS and metal together. It won't work very well, and it'll crack very easily. Same goes for fiberglass actually, it's better to use metal and weld it on. You'll have a solid connection that won't crack.
Go to a junkyard and cut up a car with the scoop you want, or buy a pre-made metal one. It'll be less trouble in the end for a better result.

I recommend 3M's "SEM Bond". I've personally used the stuff to hold ground effects on my Neon. The bond lasted several hard winters even dragging those panels over speed bumps and such. I eventually had to rebond, but I did a crappy job glueing in the first place. The stuff might be hard to get, its one of those "For sale to professionals only" things, but a good store will have it.

Use the stuff that they glue the body panels together on. Huge caulk type thingy, go 3m of course. Its an apoxy glue like mega-JB Weld...stonger that a standard weld if done right.

stronger than a standard weld if done right?
i dont think sooo! if the scoop is metal bite the bullett and have it professionaly welded..but fiberglass or abs- 3m is the way to go http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

Hey, all the shops use the 3m stuff instead of spot welding body parts on because its quicker and just are good.
