Putting the Golf in reverse... *problem*

534 Views 4 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  ramylson
when i put my car in reverse you have to push down on the shifter pull left and then up. But, when i push down initially it wants to stay down and it wont pop up.
this was not happening before. I just recently put in an autotech short shifter.
Could this be causing the problem? Please help.
Thanx

Am I reading this wrong?
My car was fine. I modded it. Now its not fine. Could it be related?

Hmm. Well, ever since I installed my short throw kit, my car doesn't go into second very well.

With not being able to get into second.. chances are you need new bushing in the shifting linkage. I believe TT has a kit with all new pieces for the shift linkages (read it on here before.. somewhere). I'm in the same boat as you on this one..
I bet it might even be a possible cause for the shifter sticking (reverse or otherwise). At least, for $10, it's a reasonable try..
EDIT:

Under shift linkages: part# 798.101
Cost: $10.00
