question about coolant tank

i searched, but i didn't get anything out of it.
my coolant overflow tank was crack on my vr6, and i have a chance to score a brand new tank for free. but they look a little different. the vr6 one is more oval than round while the one i can get is perfectly round. is that for the 2.0? would there be a problem if i were to swap it out (in terms of how much coolant i would have flowing through the engine...)

The 2.0 coolant ball is spherical, while the VR6 ball is just a little oblonged. The connections points for bolting it up, coolant lines, and sensors are all exactly the same. One will work on the other just fine, only difference is amount of coolant that fits in the ball (which is no problem what so ever). It will work fine. i have a extra brand new coolant tank for you for a 2.0 but will work perfectly for a VR, they look better too.. let me know if you want it i will let go of it for cheap

thanks, but i can already get one for free. i'll just put in the round one then.
do i have to fill the coolant up past the max line then? iirc, the 2.0 requires 7l of coolant vs. the vr6's 9l (that's litres, by the way)
