I'll try to make a long story short......
I just bought most of the interior pieces out of a MK3.5 cabby for a awsome price. I'm having issues with the stock cabby radio.
It lights up when I turn on the lights, but I can't get the display to turn
on. I tried almost every button combo to activate it (the dealership
said to hold down the seek button), but no luck. I've searched for hours
now. So, hopefully somone can help me out. Maybe the radio is f'ed?

Thanks in advance! -Dan

Re: Question about MK3.5 Cabrio Radio..... (The Luscious)

me too. i have an mk4 radio and that's all mine does is light up. if you look at the 4th page of the diy it tells you how to hook up a double-din radio non-monsoon radio. which i presume would be the same so try that out http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

Re: Question about MK3.5 Cabrio Radio..... (The Luscious)

so you're saying the radio doesn't even say SAFE in the display? That's weird.
Drop me a line tomorrow, I've got mk3 and mk4 bentleys, and I know for sure the mk4 one has the pinouts for the Premium IV radio...I've got that radio.
I thought the mk3 stereos had the same pinouts and plugs, but maybe I was wrong. Tell me, did you plug in BOTH the brown and the black plug? No problems there?
And just out of curiosity, what other innards did you get? Did you get the door cards? Do you need them? I need a black leather passenger door panel, but I might be able to do both. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

There are two power wires needed for the radio... right next to each other.

That was rather cryptic. Care to elaborate?

Re: Question about MK3.5 Cabrio Radio..... (matimus)

Yea the display has seperate power imput than the rest of the radio.
So you have to buy a little pigtail connector and a scotch lock to connect
it to the main power wire that goes into the harnass (page 4 DIY)
It was 5 bucks for the parts. Looks nice. It will hold me over untill I get
a new aftermarket head unit. All my money is going to the bodyman

Thanks again for the help http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif
