Question about Secondary Air Pump?????

My CEL keeps coming on and showing a code that the Secondary Air pump has bad flow. I'd like to fix this somehow as the car needs an inspection. What things should I check first? Does the pump usually fail, or might it be a relay or something? What have you guys done?
