Question about the gasket right underneath the main oil feed on the block

There was a small gasket, right underneath the main oil feed, that (mydad pulled out!!
) Its part of the headgasket. Im using an MK4 gasket this time around, and need to know if we need to put the gasket back in that hole. Please help. -Mike
