Question about V1 and Tint...

634 Views 6 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  2xtrms
I have 20% tint all around my 2001 Jetta, and was wondering if it is going to dramatically reduce the effectiveness of a V1 (which I am in the market for as soon as a friend buys my current detector) or even my current Cobra ESD 9550 detector. I have been somewhat happy with the Cobra, but want to treat myself to the V1 because I know of all the obvious benefits. I have done a search, and that question was not answered, nor was this one: can you buy the remote unit seperately at a later date? higher price? I dont know if I can spot the $400+shipping+$39 for that unit... Any suggestions?
Thanks

To answer your second question first, yes you can buy the remote unit at a later time.
In response to your first question, I don't have tinted windows on my current car, but I did have them on every other car I have had (including a strip of tint across the top) and I have never had a problem with reception. The cars include two Camaros, a Miata, Civic and a Probe. My V1 is an original '91 model with all but the most current upgrade.

Wow I assume you like it in that case... Thanks!

As long as your tint isn't the "metallic" tint, you'll be alright.
