Re: question for a2vr6'ers (qka2)

Not sure if your asking about front suspension or rear but here is info about rear discs setup..
Most fair complete rear disc setup go for as much as $250.00.
But if I am not mistaken and you just wanting to go from 4 lug to 5 lug rear disc; it would be worth going to a parts store and comparing just the discs side by side. I believe that you could just change the discs out because I know they take the same wheel bearings... other than that they should be the same rear beam...

Re: question for a2vr6'ers (qka2)

If you want 11" front brakes then the G60 4lug is fine, all you need is the uprights (spindle) fron an A3 or late A2, calipers with carrier, brake hoses and rotors. If you want 11" 5 lugs, then the Corrado VR6 or early A3 VR6 upto 95. spindles, calipers with carriers, hoses, and balljoints, plus suspension (VR6 control arms) with swaybar. You can also get the same VR6 spindles, calipers with carriers, brake hoses, and VR6 balljoint from a B3/4 Passat. You just can't use the swaybar or the control arms with the A2.
Now if you want the 11.3" DE brakes, the 96+ A3 and B4 Passat have them, you need the calipers with carriers, hoses, spindles, balljoints. Note: You will need VR6 Corrado or A3 VR6 control arms, swaybar and axles for the 11.3. You cannot use the B4 Passat control arms, swaybar or axles (keep the joints but not the shaft as spares).
Rear is easy, just replace the rotors.
You will need the 22mm M/C, or opt to add ABS from the Corrado, B3/4 or A3, these have the 23mm M/C.
Prices vary from scrappers, shop around, just note that you may have to rebuild the calipers since you don't know the condition of the items.
Caliper kits run about $15 for 1 caliper, it's easy to do.

One thing to keep in mind is the plus axle suspension is wider both front and rear-if you keep your non-plus axle rear beam you'll have to run spacers to keep the rear track even with the front. (I think scooterman ran 8mm 's on his silver car)

The rear beam is not wider. Adamrules measured it for me. He has an A2 and an A3 VR6 and they are the same.

Re: question for a2vr6'ers (psi)

I'm running 8mm spacers on the rear anyway. It's not a big deal either way. Although I'm fairly certain that most VR6 swappers out there just leave the stock A2 rear beam on there. I did...

Re: question for a2vr6'ers (Dextrose)

Dex-I compared the widths of the two beams before I did the swap.Believe me,I wouldn't have done all that work for nothing. The beam I used came from a corrado. Is there a difference in width between G/J and corrado rear beams?

Exactly. That's my whole point. There is no point really in swapping the entire rear beam. Like I said before...one of the guys on here (Adamrules) measure for me. He compared a stock A2 rear beam and a stock A3 GTI VR6 rear beam...and they were essentially the same. If there's less than an inch difference...then as far as I'm concerned...they're the same. Especially when you can get spacers to compensate for any SLIGHT difference there might actually be.
Ask the Guru Dean F...see what he says!

I've sent you an email, but I have all the sub frames from an MK3 2 liter. They are from a 2 liter, I'm not sure how different they are for a vr6. If you want them I'm rather close to you, South NJ. Drop me an email if you are interested.

Thanks man.. but the 2.0 susp will not work for my swap. I need the plus suspension that comes with the vr6.
- Everyone else -
Although the rear beam is not much different I know is heavier so for weight distribution purposes I will use the vr6 rear beam if I can find it...
Thanks guys http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif
