ok ill spend the woping 12 buck and get a new one
but i pulled out my old one and spun the end and the speedo reacted

I have an a2 tranny in my Rabbit GTI, and I had no problems with the speedo cable.If you are having problems with it you might have a problem at the speedometer.By the way I think I am still using my original cable that came with the Rabbit, I just disconnected it while doing the swap.
