Question for GIAC chip owners!

I bought my GIAC chip almost 2 years ago for my 97 Jetta GLX, and at the time, the place where I bought it said that the HP increase would be about 8 to 9hp. Now, when I visit the vendors site, it states that the chip will boost the HP by about ~12hp. When I called them, to ask about an upgrade, they said they didn't think there was an upgrade available yet for that specific chip, But when I told them about the 2 different HP claims, they then said that, yeah, maybe there was an upgrade available. Basically, what I'm trying to find out is wether or not anyone here knows if the new program/ or chips do increase the HP to ~12? Or if anyone knows anything about this issue. All in all, I'm just trying to keep from wasting my time and money if it isn't necessary. Thankx in advance for any info.

As I understand it there was recently a new version of their chip, by recent I mean with in the last year. I would suggest calling them and asking them also their should be a version number on the chip so have that handy and give them a call and see whats up.
