The KA24DE in the Altima and 240SX is basically the exact same engine. It makes the same power as well but it might have different cam profiles...not exactly sure. As for mating up to a 240SX transmission, I'm not sure about that. I'm sure someone over at http://www.240sx.org would know though.

One is mounted transversely, the other longitudinally, so there might be some small but significant structural differences that would make a straight bolt-on difficult.

I just figured out the engine mounts aren't the same...

the Altima has different cams, and the engines are not swappable. (i.e. you cannot put a FWD engine in a RWD car) This is true for SR20DETs too; there is a FWD version and a RWD version. The FWD SR20DET was in AWD Altimas overseas, if you can believe it.
