1036 Views 16 Replies 16 Participants Last post by  vr6Cop
I am currently waiting for the 1000 mile break in period to be over. I have a 2002 1.8t AWP motor (180hp) I can't seem to find any numbers on the APR site yet for this chip. Dose anyone have any numbers for me that the chip puts down. I would try the search funtion but it is down. Thanks for your help an support

Re: Question on the APR chip (Varsix)

i think APR is supposedly 200hp/250tq
but i think in reality all chips are around 200/210 AFAIK
don't get APR unless you really want the ability to switch programs.. its way expensive..
if you aren't looking to lose an arm and a leg.. i'd say go upsolute.. but if you have lots of cash and want the bells and whistles then i'd say go APR
but i think upsolute has a switchable chip coming out soon.. anyone know?:
Re: Question on the APR chip (Varsix)

Look again---right side of page under announcements. 215 crank hp and I assume that torque is close to the usual 245-50. You're, imho, on the right track.
It's as smooth as two fingers of Dr. Jack. You might like the characteristics of other chips better/drive them all, say I.
Do your homework and note the source(s) of the most screams of anguish and reports of general despair. The expense argument, as with most things, often can be a warning rather than reasoned guidance. Good Luck.
Re: Question on the APR chip (Varsix)

you could wait until the APR BBQ next month and get a deal on the chip.

If you are not already planning to come, be sure to stroll over to the BBQ next month... chances are the ECUs will be discounted ($300? who knows!) - and that might be for a fully loaded one. Special discounts at the BBQ are known to be SUPER LOW!!!
APR is the only way to go - but its all a matter of opinion... drop me an email privately if you want more of my opinion... (wont post it here because i dont want to start a war!)..
Re: Question on the APR chip (Shaka)

TOO late this is war!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Question on the APR chip (gok)

What is this bbq you are talkin about? I would like to go so that they can check out my chip( so I don't have to send that sucker in there.).
Re: Question on the APR chip (KillahBee)

check out www.goapr.com and look under calendar where you will find the APR BBQ in march.

I just got my 02 GTI APR chipped this weekend at Treffen...all I can say is DAMN!!!...I was having a bit of fun with an F-150 Lightning on the interstate and I was doing about 140 mph with ease...the guy even gave me a http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif on his way off the highway...you're going to love this thing...I can switch between stock and chipped while driving...it really makes you appreciate the newfound power...wheelspin like crazy on 1st, and get a nice healthy chirp on 2nd gear....I was told by the APR rep performing my install that they have seen numbers in the 220 HP/250 TQ range at the crank, but they can't go around saying that of course...theres always that customer in Arizona that will make less power and will bitch about it...
APR is the only way to go!!

Re: Question on the APR chip (Varsix)

The AWP motor produces 215hp and 245 ft. lb of torque. I hope that this helps.
Re: Question on the APR chip (jeremyAPR)

Also, for AWP (2002 right?) will stg 3 produce the same as for AWW/AWD?
Re: Question on the APR chip (Mhyrr)

i just got chipped about two weeks ago and i'm very happy. I would go with apr for 600 bucks i got three programs. can't beat that you get what you pay for.

Re: Question on the APR chip (Shaka)

Did anyone attend the APR BBQ last year? What were the prices on chips?
Re: Question on the APR chip (mcolella)

I talked to one of the APR reps at TREFFEN last weekend. They are giving away a stage III kit at the BBQ that's valued at $4,000
I'll BE there
Worth the 8 hour drive from Orlando!
I got to the TREFFEN a little late on Sunday, APR had already sold out the 18 ECU's they'd brought. They were including one free upgrade worth $150. They said they'd give me the same deal and include free shipping - I heading for the BBQ next month - should be a fun ride back.

I went, it was $500 w/ECMS and one program or $400 for just the chip. 99 and earlier models are $400 all the time, so those guy got a deal if they got ECMS. As I recall there was no install fee, but don't quote me on that last bit.

Do you have to buy a chip to be in the running for the free stage III? You must be off on the second part, I don't think they would drive the big rig 800mi and only bring 18 modules, were they just out of your spare ECU? if that's the case I'd have gotten a chip and did the ECU later(guess you won't need the switch function for stock).

Terry, I agree with Gok. Wait until March 16th and be at the BBQ. There should be enough people there that will be willing to let you test drive their APR cars.
