hello i have a 86 cabriolet with some knocking in the front end when i hit small bumps i have new struts KYB's and drop coils but stupid me didn't think of changing the strut mounts so i'm pulling it apart and found that there is no rubber between the strut mount and the peace that holds the top of the coil should there be a rubber something between them, metal on metal doesn't sound good to me but hopefull some of you can help me thankyou again

Inner CV joints worn
Engine/tranny mounts loose or shot
Exhaust clanking
Differential bearings worn
Strut bearings shot
Strut loose
Brake calipers loose
Wheel nuts not torqued
Ball joint on control arm worn
Loose steering rack or tie rods
Worn steering rack (do you hear a knock when you jerk the wheel back and forth?)
Contol Arm bushings shot or control arm rear bushing holder loose.
Bad wheel bearings
