in order to take the AC compressor out at the junk yard today I had to remove the alternator. The junk yard car's alternator was from the outside in a good condition so I bought it too.
The alternator of my Beetle squeaks so I want to replace it at some point.

I pulled this out of a 99 Beetle. Did they come with a Bosch AL0189X from the factory? I think the alternator was replaced in this car.
When I block the rotor inside the alternator I can turn the pulley counterclockwise. I cannot turn it clockwise. Is that a bug or a feature?
I can pull the pulley a tiny bit away from the alternator. It has maybe 0.25 mm play. Is that okay? It doesn't have any up and down play.
