Quetion about 3rd gear??

Lately when I go to put the car into 3rd gear it makes this awful noise...like this grinding sound. Someone help, its just a 98 it shouldn't already be doing this its just a baby.

your 3rd gear syncro is probably going.. try changing the transmission fluid to Redline MT-90 and it will probably help stop the grinding. it did on my 2.0 (2nd gear)

Baby? My '98 needed a tranny rebuild and a new clutch after only 37k miles... http://****************.com/smile/emthdown.gif Not sure what your problem is... But it does sound like a syncro since the other gears aren't crunching too.

I've heard also that when you grind second you have to adjust the shifter. There is a website for this, also in the bentley if you wanted to look at that as your options.

hi, i heard that you had your tranny rebuilt. I am having problems with my gear popping out, i was wondering where you had your tranny rebuilt and how much did it cost...i'm in desperate need of fixing my car! thanx
