Quick question: Will my stealership find out?

There's an entrance to a highway with a stop sign... You have to take off really quickly. Well, today I accidently got into the red zone... Got really close (maybe hit it) to 7000 rpm... I only noticed this as I shifted into second... I never intended to do this and was only there for a second. I've searched and determined that my engine is probably fine.. But I'm not sure if some sort of code was thrown or not...
Will my dealership find out? Do I really need to worry about this at all?
I tried the 1.8T forum and haven't gotten a response yet...
Don't people accidently do this all the time? Somebody tell me I'm totally overreacting (I tend to do this)...
BTW my engine is all stock

Re: Quick question: Will my stealership find out? (Overboost)

Is a code only thrown when you go faster than 135mph? I looked in Bentley and couldn't find anything besides "Maximum Vehicle Speed Exceeded"...
More than worrying about it, I just want to know if the dealership will find out..

don't think it matters and don't think the dealership will really check.

Man, I bounce off the redline all the time (on accident of course). As long as it's not done frequently, you'll be fine. Just chill

If you are really worried about codes, though, get a VAG-COM so you can clear all the codes before you go into the dealership!

Okay.
Next time I'll take off with the sunroof closed. I surprised myself because I usually have a great sense of when to shift even when I can't hear the engine... I'm kind of annoyed at myself.
Thanks guys.

Yeah... I need to chill.
It's been one of those days.
Hey Var... Did you ever get all your problems fixed with your car?
Re: Quick question: Will my stealership find out? (agarc)

If your reationship w/the dealer is me-against-them...I'm guessing this because you call them a "stealer"ship, then find a better dealer.
Re: Quick question: Will my stealership find out? (agarc)

Dumb question: If your engine is all stock, then I'm assuming your ECU is, too. If that's the case, how the heck did you hit 7000rpm?? Stock rev limiter is around 6500. Just wondering...
Re: Quick question: Will my stealership find out? (Jman5000)

They're a good dealership... They're just typical. They're well known in my area for doing good service for very high prices... Especially if you didn't buy your car from them. All the other dealerships (except from where I bought mine from) are too far away.
So it's not that I'm in this "me vs. dealership" relationship... I just freaked out this afternoon.

Well, my engine and ECU are completely stock and always have been. And I definitely went past 6500... I don't know if I actually hit 7000, but I at least came very very close...
Could this be because I have a 2002 1.8T?
