I'd edit that to a yes/yes 'cause sometimes they can be a little tricky to get at what with that windshield right above them. I'd say it's a yes/no though compared to my cousin who's silly american car needs the whole dash removed to get at those little buggers.
quote:

thanks guys.. even kept on topic.. for my next question.. is infinity a good speaker?? i have heard only good things

yes, but for 3.5's i wouldn't worry about it too much, no one makes one that can handle more than 30 watts RMS and you'll have to cap 'em to cut off the low frequencies (if you plan on sending more than 15 watts RMS to them). i have blaupunkts in my car, they were about $40 from crutchfield.com the infinity's are $70.
I ran a full Kappa system in my car. I still have the speakers, but yet to put them into the new car.
I have only good things to say about the kappas minus one thing. They're wattage eaters, so if you don't have enough power you'll get terrible distortion, but with the right setup you'll have in my opinion some of the best speakers for the price. I loved them to death. I had 5.25's in the doors and 4x6's in the back running off a 45X4 alpine head unit and I got rearview mirror shakes from that little...now if you went further, you'd love it even more. I'm sticking kappa all the way once I finish.
Edit: the kappa 3.5's I didn't put in, but I've heard them, and I couldn't believe those 'lil guys could be that good. You'll have the best results running a full kappa on a good amp. Those speakers gave me the best crisp sounds I had heard in a long time, and pulled the bass from somewhere deep and beautiful.

in an A2 it's a piece of cake. Use a stubby screwdriver and they're out in under 2 minutes.

I was well endowed and couldn't find a stubby so I'd ended up holding a driver bit with a wrench and doing it in a rediculously complicated way 'cause I didn't feel like going after a stubby.
tiny tiny ratchets that hold 1/4 bits are your best friend doing them dash speakers!!! i've had to use a 1/4 wrench and bits before too, tight space. get the new ones in tehre good and tight, with good connections on them. i wouldn't skimp on them dash speakers, high end sound kicks arse, and they are damn close to you, distortion sux!

God yes. I don't have door speakers in the GTI, so all I have are 5x7 pioneers I haven't bothered to move yet and the dash speakers....the only thing that keeps the volume down are those POS stock dash speakers.
