Re: FV-QR (J-Tim)

Wow I didn't know that they had to remove the side seats to meet US Spec. I always thought of how cool it would be to drive in the middle with two other people next to you

Nothing stopped you from putting those seats back in. A car, where you can have a girl on each side.... perfect! http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

That was the first car magazine I ever bought. I'd been playing NFSII and saw it and grabbed it. I was 11. I've probably read that article 200 times, great stuff!

Re: (Internal Combustion)

I remember reading this article back in the day. I forgot how much Ameritec bastardized the looks of that car to make it meet regulations (bumpers, headlights)

Don't miss Peloton's awesome F1 GTR videos in his post
It makes sense that Murray had the center driving idea as a child. It seems so natural to be in the middle.
Ugh, those added bumpers are attrocious

Thanks for posting this article. This is the only road test from back in the day that R&T STILL includes in their Road Test summary page near the back of the magazine. I've always wondered how/why the F1's skidpad and slalom numbers were so poor

Also, they failed to mention that we share mirrors with the TVR Tuscan:

We are the side mirror sluts of the car world

Yes, really. Road & Track removed the "God is Awesome" stickers from the side windows prior to taking their photos. Look closely and you can see it in this shot:

The owner's son had an NHRA Pro Stock drag racing team that used that as the name on their Pontiac Grand Am.

I prefer the fish with legs and "evolve" written inside.

The opened left-side luggage well exposes a modem jack to connect the F1's engine to BMW in Germany for real-time analysis.

I sure hope it's a 56k modem.
