R32 and FWD mk4 FRONT struts interchangable?

659 Views 8 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  bootymac
Is the R32 and reg fwd model mk4's front struts interchangeable? Do they mount up the exact same? I know the spring rates are different and the rears are different blah blah blah... Just wondering about the front struts.

edit: and yes I did search and couldn't find my answers in the FAQ or around these parts

Re: FV-QR (bluebora20v)

hey while were up there can we change out the control arm bushings as well? shouldnt they be the same?
they are not interchangeable...the mounting position for the sway bar is on the strut as opposed to the control arm
Re: FV-QR (automan21)

Not too sure, I thought the R32 shared some front components with the TT.

Exactly. On the R32 and the TT, the sway bar has a long linkage that attaches to the mid portion of the strut, right around where the spring sits.

FV-QR

If you aren't going to use the sway bar everything else is the same...just the mounting point for the fsb is different?
if thats the case couldnt you just get a r32 fsb also and call it a day?

TT/R32 LCA bushings are heavy duty and more solid than stock Mk4 ones
