Hi,
Would a 2H tranny from an 84' Gti fit into a 86' Golf 8 vavle/gas?
And if so, would I need to mod anything or would it be straight plug n' play?
Thank you for your input,
robz

no. 2H and any other pre 8/83 tranny does not accept an A2 mount.

Believe what the man says. I havent seen him be wrong about anything yet. No pre 8/83 tranny will fit in a MK2. Most 84 GTI's came with a 4K which is post 8/83 and therefore will fit, but we're not talking about a 4K tranny here are we?

some folks have mentioned fabricating brackets to use A1 trannies in A2s, but yes, the 4K is the only one that's built with the option to take the A2 mounting system.

two problems: like is mentioned above, bracket will not fit. you can ghetto rig a bracket to fit though; not recommended. Also if you have 100mm flanges, they will not fit as the case is not clearanced to accept them. If you have 90mm flanges, a-okay.

well the flanges aren't so bad to swap. you just need a way to compress them in while you're putting it back together. there's a tool for that, or you can improvise something. the big thing is the different bracket.

why would you want to ghetto rig any A1 tranny to fit an A2. call me stupid but isn't a 020 2Y or even a 020 AUG tranny far superior, closer ratio trannies?
