What should i pay for a new radiator? mine has a big hole right on the left side top where the engine hoses come out. i have patched it with j/b weld and it is semi holding up, but i dont think it is going to last all that long. i like in TX if there is a difference.
need a fair price on part and labor. i dont know how to do much on this car as Air Cooled VWs are more my thing. I have a funny little vw that gets the most love.

Re: Radiator in STOCK 85 cabriolet ([email protected])

I upgraded my radiator to a A2 version.. it's about 6 inches longer.
I paid $86.oo for it from Ebay.. brand new.
hit this link for Ebays VW radiators http://search.ebay.com/search/searc...=&ebaytag1code=0&st=&SortProperty=MetaEndSort
if you have AC, I'm not sure if you can upgrade to the larger radiator. If you don't have ac, You would just need the A2 top and bottom hoses to adjust for the extra length. Replacing them is as easy as .... let's say...replacing engine tin on a beetle..
Also, double check when you buy a radiator that you specify if you have an expansion tank or if it fill right on the radiator

Re: Radiator in STOCK 85 cabriolet (Big CADDY)

I have AC that works like a champ...amazing actually considering i live in TX and it is 175,000 miles old.
I would love a bigger system, but if i cant with the a/c then poop.
PS working on a Thing is SO much better than a bug...not cramped in that rear end. I have all kinds of elbow room in a Thing

check out that bad boy...top speed of 67 mph...oh yeah!!!!!

Re: Radiator in STOCK 85 cabriolet (Big CADDY)

yep, everyone does have it right here... A/C means stock radiator. I would suggest calling around and see who has the best price. Yellow Pages my friend... You may also want to check around pick-n-pulls, you just might be able to save a few bucks if you find one. If you do pull a used one, you'll want to take it to a shop to have it dipped and double check that it is OK...
