Hi All,
I've sucessfully added the Rain/Light Sensor and auto-dimming mirror to my 2.0T Package 2. It took some time and meant running lots of wires, but it's successful; and I finally have the function I lost when I sold the GTI.

I'd like to whole-heartily thank Rob from Parts at Valenti in Watertown, CT for finding and ordering all the right parts for the job. I'd like to especially thank Paul from service at VW of West Hartford, CT for taking time out on a Sunday to help me install.
I'd also like to send out a special thank you to the glass gods for keeping me from spidering my glass.

You don't need a new windshield anymore. I installed the sensor without replacing the glass. Now you can remove your old mount and install the new one.

I'm not sure. The rain-light sensor sends data to the car over a single wire (both light and rain data) to the lin-bus. If you can find a wiring diagram for the mirror, you may have a compatible lin-bus output.

Thanks.. But it seems like the mirror you have is the VW one, Im using an Audi mirror. I think the only thing my mirror can do is the headlights... but no rain sensing. Im happy with my auto dim

Anyone who has put this sensor in, do the rain and auto-headlamp features have to be enabled with VagCom?

Yup, you need to tell the control module that it's installed; and then enable coming and leaving home. Full instructions will be done by the end of the weekend!
