I've read a lot about people using these Digi2's, but I was just wondering...what does it do? If it's good for performance, can I put one in my 86 Jetta (1.8, 8v)? Do I need any special parts or anything?
Thanks

digi2 refers to digifant 2 fuel injection. it's what the later models had, i think digifant 1 started in 1988 and digifant 2 was later on? i know my 88 golf is digifant. your 86 jetta should have bosch cis fuel injection, it's a mechanical system whereas digifant is electronic.

Gotcha...
Being that I have the fuel distributor on top of the air box, I'm guessing that there isn't anything I can do with a Digi2?
Thanks

your car is CIS... its harder to work with, but more tune-able than Digifant.

to switch to digifant you'd have to basically ditch all of your existing fuel injected parts and replace them all with stuff from a digifant car. personally i think it would be far more trouble than it's worth, and getting all that stuff retrofitted would probably be a real nightmare. cis is a good system, and for what it's worth, vw did leave the 16v's cis when the 8v's switched to digifant...

Well, I think that says a lot, then again I am very new to VW, and am just learning how to do anything to a car myself. I think I'll just leave the setup I have.
Thanks guys! http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif
