Re: Custom Pzwo walk-through
OK guys...I thought maybe I'd do a lil' layout of how we did the custom Pzwo front end.
Things needed...
Pzwo front valence
OEM front bumper
A professional bodyman...or in my case...a Dad
Lots on materials and time...oh yeah, and patience
I'd like to say thanks to Vortexer jsquared...JJ Larson for the used Pzwo front. He gave me a very good price and I figured I'd do it with a used piece due to the fact that we would be cuttin', grindin', and choppin' http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif
This is what we started with...
2 things, it was black and it had a couple cracks...not a big deal!
Then we removed the center piece...
We used 2 pieces from the piece we romoved to use as a filler and to build on...where the new opening was going to be
Then the build began...just some poly filler and fusor...that part was pretty simple.
In this pic you can see on the lower left hand side of the piece, where he fixed the large crack that you see in the 2nd pic...
Then to the bumper...
Anyone who knows the Pzwo front...it was designed to be used on a bumper, so that a person wouldn't have to remove much for fitment...I went against all that
The piece being cut her is what would have sat behind the original piece...
Pops showin' what was removed...
So we fittin' the piece and clamped some vice grips on herand applied the glue...
He filled the plate holes and side markers...
And we filled all the screw holes after we used the the screws to hold the part together...had to have it all smooth
From there the molding continued...
The ole' man just finishin' up on the side markers...or lack there of
And if you look closely...you'll see that the spot where the nasty crack was...is no more http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif
After a quick "guide coat"...to expose any imprefections...let the wetsanding begin
Down to the shop for 4 coats of Glasurit base...and 2 coats of Glasurit flex clearcoat http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif
Don't worry...those are his shop glasses
Damn!!! she turned out nice and shiney
I took the time to find a place that had a Kamei DIY mesh kit...
got a can of some laquer based gloss black and after a couple hours of fitting and cutting...all the mesh was done...
Then the final product...
I hope you guys enjoy this...it took some time and I appreciate all the kind words!!! I talked to my father this morning and he was very happy that so many people liked the work...he said the he was very suprised that it turned out like it did..."it took me some time to vision what you wanted...once we got into it...we were all good" These were his words.
I can't really put a price on this...
Jman had some very good points in my original thread about how it's unique and custom...you may never get a shop to copy it...exact copy, that is
Thanks again for all the support and I hope to get a chance at showing some of you in person this show season. Stay tuned for the wheels and other mods, come Saturday
Enjoy
