RE Jim Ellis

I just finished reading through much of the JE thread, and now I'm very concerned. The reason being is I JUST purchased a new GTI from Jim Ellis Marietta, and I had no idea of what was going on. I did most of my initial research online before purchasing, but I never came across anything regarding the recent law suit -- you have my full support GMan! Had I known, I would have taken my business to DH.
Well, I must say that I didn't have any problems buying the car. I was well prepared, and I was confident that I would get the price I wanted. I test drove a sleek silver GTI (with saleman in tow of course), and yes, I was pressured to buy that day. I knew they would do that, so I actually found it really funny when it happened. All the "wanna shake on it?" and "just sign here" crap was met with my "maybes" and a really big grin on my face. I really found it funny when the saleman brought over the finance guy, and they both tried the same pressure crap with me. It was all I could do not to laugh out loud. Needless to say, I walked out.
I test drove other cars that day, but they really couldn't compare to the sweet little GTI I orginially test drove. To make a long story short, I bought the same car I test drove with the price I originally wanted (after a little haggling) and even got a factory CD changer cheap! (a mistake on their part which turned in my favor) Anyway, I had a pleasant experience buying the car since I felt that I was in control and not the other way around, but I'm shocked by what I've read so far! My God! Are these people stupid?? What can I expect in the future from them?? I'm really concerned and will definitely go to DH for any service in the future, but I can't help but wonder if my wonderful car will hold together after all I've read

I'm an excited first-time VW owner, but now I have my doubts about service. It's very disturbing to hear of all these numerous problems with local service departments (especially the legal actions from a dealer I just signed my hard-earned money to!) Let's all offer GMan support and also post a few "good" experiences (not necessarily from dealers), okay?

I just went over the 24K miles mark, so the factory warranty is gone. Not once I have needed to take my car into the dealer for ANY warranty work. No MAF, no O2 sensors, no windows, nothing! Makes you feel better? We post a lot about what goes wrong, these boards are full of whinners. Our cars are not as bad as we make them look like.

Re: RE Jim Ellis (ROCKRLR)

I'm taking my Jetta in for the 50,000 mile service next week. No problems (other than the fact that I hit a deer at 80 mph back at 14,000 miles).

Thanks guys! I'm fellin' better already!
Believe me, it's hard to walk away from my dub everyday when all I want to do is ride! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that nothing goes wrong (significantly that is), and I have similar experiences as you all do (good that is
).
Anyway, keep up the good posts! I wanna hear more!!

Re: RE Jim Ellis (Spanky_GTI)

In Denver (elsewhere?) there is a newspaper ad. for the Audi TT that asks:
"when you park your car and walk away, do you look back?"
I find myself looking back *every time*
Re: RE Jim Ellis (BoraVR6)

I walk backwards until I get where I'm going.....
Re: RE Jim Ellis (vwmidge)

I too look back in admiaration every time I park. I've always wanted a GTI and now I have one and am in love. Yes, I had a window regulator go out on me but I have a wonderfull dealer (North Penn Imports) who took me in the same day and fixed it for me with no appointment. I love my dub!!!
Re: RE Jim Ellis (Spanky_GTI)

I bought mine from JE on P'Tree Ind.
Last week, @ 27K miles my window reg. busted.
I bought an extended warranty (not informed by JE that I still had a $100 deductible) but had JE repair it.
The day after getting my car back, I find a screw on my floor... thanks JE for your attention to detail
.
