Go easy on him, he lives in TX. For what it's worth, turbodiesels rule. I wish they'd put that engine in a Passat/A4, I'd buy one in a second.

Uhhh. Why did you decide to mention Mustangs. I thought this was about the WRX. By the way, stock for stock a new Cobra will tear the S4 a new one for your information.
P.S. Your uncle better have a helluva lot done to his S4 to make a new M3 look bad, otherwise that M3 driver simply couldn't drive.

I just destroyed a Cobra the other day. We were on a lightly travelled hwy, he jumps on my tail. I go right up to 100 just to let him know I didn't appreciate it. Then he flies up to the left and kind slows down and speeds up. I didn't even downshift (I was in sixth) and I crushed him. Accelerated to about 130, he was trying but he wais never closer than 2/3 car lengths behind. Just as I'm about to embarass him, I slow down just enough to let him catch up. I did this a few times then I tired of it and he flew by me doing at least 100 or so. I'll bet he thinks he won. This post in no way states that the S4 is faster than a Cobra, on this particular day, with this driver and these conditions it was.

thatz my mistake i didnt say what kind of mustang.mustang gt is what i meant.not a cobra.oh and yes the m3 is fast from 0-60 but an s4 is quicker from 80+.thats how my uncle outran one.

I have no idea what my car runs 1/4 mile. When I get mobil1 at my next service I'll probably go to the track a little. Informally, I ran some 0-60 times of about 5 seconds. These are unscientific, basically a buddy with a stop watch and me dropping the clutch at 4K rpms.

I'll race a Cobra, M5, M3, C5 Vette, Saleen, whatever. Been there, done that, beat them all..and thats even before the car was in final tune. Granted, its not the fastest car in the world, but I'm hunting for Vipers when its all said and done.

I don't know what the S4 runs stock but I know the new Cobras only run low 14s, I jsut read a right up on them a week or so ago.

Whatever, I am gonna have to let you in on something here. A few months ago Muscle Mustangs and Fast Ford's got a bone stock 2001 Cobra to run a 13.35 in the 1/4 in less than ideal conditions. Hell, new GT's can easily run 13.8-.9 with a good driver and decent conditions. So I don't know where you got your info from but they were very wrong.

Guys, what's all that about mustangs beating your S4 on the start! My dream is to own a S4! I'd sell my left nut for one of those! But if a Mustang can beat you, either you can't drive or I was all wrong about the S4! I can beat a stang 3 out of 5 with my 2.0 1998 Jetta! It has to be a short run but it's all about traction. While they're running through a set of tires, I'm long gone. And I "tried" to challenge an S4... The guy let me pass him to laugh at me and then he slammed it, slowed down beside my dying 2.0, laughed his butt of and passed me as if I shifted in reverse.

Ya, well the guy in the Porsche just paid 200 grand more for his car.
