Real vs. Fake ITR

2699 Views 26 Replies 17 Participants Last post by  3WheelGTi
Is there any easy way you can tell a real ITR apart from a Fake one just from looking at the outside? There's this dude that I always see driving around in a yellow integra with a moderately aggressive bodykit, big ole' black wing, exhaust and some decent looking aftermarket rims. It's got the type R badges in all the right spots, and the car looks really clean (no "carmelized lights" as I call them, or other crappy stickers) for it to just be a regular r|ceboy. So, anyone?

Re: Real vs. Fake ITR (ogmius)

US cars has 5 lugs
Colors came in: Phoenix Yellow, Red, Black, Championship White (1997,1998)
Suede seats
Shift knob is metal
Has differential
Gauge cluster is tad different
I dont know for later ones but 97-98 ones had #VIN on armrest.
Wheels are different

The ITR wing was body colored I believe, I would be somewhat suspicious.

yeah, It's an aftermarket "carbon fiber" deal.
Thanks for the info!
Another thing, does anyone know how many ITRs were sold here?

Red wasn't available in the United States. The gauge cluster has a redline of 8.5K and stops at 10K. The speedometer goes to 150, and the gauges light up amber/orange, as opposed to the GSR/LS white gauges.

they didnt make regular yellow integras did they? i dont remember if they did or not, but if that's correct (or he repainted), then he's got a real one
Re: (raycer)

Yes, they made yellow ITRs

yellow, white, 2 shades of black. JDM/overseas markets got red, US didn't.

He was referring to Integra GS-R/LS models in an attempt to show that if the car is yellow, it would be more likely that the model was a legitimate Type-R. Black and white Integra LS models come a dime a dozen.

Re: Real vs. Fake ITR (ogmius)

97-98: Championship White.
no 99 Type-R
00: Phoenix Yellow, Flamenco Black Pearl.
01: Phoenix Yellow, Nighthawk Black.
nobody knows Exactly how many ITR's were imported too the states during the 4 years it was sold. Roughly 5,000.
Most 97 models did not have A.C., although it was an option. standard in 98+ ITR's. many little differances to distinguish an ITR from a GS-R, front splitter, rear wing, wheels, brakes...etc etc..but these are all things that can be easily modified on a GS-R too create an ITR clone(there are many) including a yellow GS-R in yonkers that looks Exactly like a type-r exterior wise.
Re: (raycer)

I don't think there are any Phoneix Yellow regular Integras.

There aren't. The easiest way to tell is to look at the number of lugs...most people do not go through the trouble of doing a hub swap.
also, the 97-98 ITR's didnt come with rear wipers.

Re: (SailexGti.hk)

Also, the Type Rs have a rear tie-bar in the rear suspension. If you look at the car from the back, you can catch a glimpse of it.
